Director of Donor Advancement


Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County, a  youth development organization serving Mercer County youth in educational, career, leadership and healthy living programs seeks a Director of Donor Advancement. 


The Director of Donor Advancement is a key member of the fundraising team and is integral to increasing resources for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County to fulfill its mission. The Director will use innovative practices, project management, communication strategies, building key relationships and technology to engage community support in retaining, growing and attracting new resources. Work projects will include donor engagement events, individual giving, grant applications and supporting the overall fundraising & communication goals of the organization.


Major Responsibilities

 Donor Engagement Events: Will plan and leader several small events during the year to engage current donors in building strong relationships with the Club and our mission. To attract new potential donors to these events through producing and marketing interesting events towards specific target groups. (25%)

 Grant Funding: Lead, plan and execute cultivation and solicitation strategies for a number of the organization’s portfolio of corporate/private funders. Where appropriate, write grants needed to generate gifts, solicit sponsorships or special events, and solicit general support gifts. (25%)

 Major Gifts: Manage a select portfolio of donors, created and execute cultivation, solicitation and engagement strategies, focused on increasing number of major gifts generated annually. (25%) Secondary Responsibilities

 Back office functions: Supports data entry of Donor Perfect and other software systems, writes thank you notes, email communication with donors, and other related office functions. Develop and disseminate marketing materials (invitations, programs, sponsor recognition, etc.) for print and electronic media. Supports event publicity and organizations social media strategy. (10%)

 Annual Campaigns & Event sponsorships/participation: Support project plan for annual year-end campaign, targeting new and existing donors. Carry out campaign themes in all media messages. (5%)

 Community Engagement: Attend various community events, join committees/organizations, to be one of the public faces of the organization on make introduce new people/organizations/stakeholders to the Club and becoming a potential donor. (10%)


Qualifications, Skills and Abilities for Position

B.A. degree in a related field, plus a minimum of five years' experience in the development/fundraising field.

• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and have general skills in many areas of development

• Strong computer skills including expert use of Microsoft Office, data base software, social media utilization, data base management and more.

• Ability to interact effectively with funders, donors, volunteers, and staff members to build strong personal relationships.


This is a full-time salaried exempt position, which includes a full benefit package comprising of PTO, medical, life insurance, disability, and 401K plan. The salary range for this position is between $55,000 and $60,000 dependent on experience.

Occasionally required to lift, transport items that may weigh 25 lbs. or less.


Work Environment: This position is performed in a traditional office environment and at Club sites, and requires attendance at evening and weekend events. Occasional domestic overnight trips to attend business meetings, conferences, and related professional events may be required.
